Memorial Day is about more than just cookouts, picnics, water fun, and a day off from school or work. It is about honoring our service men and women who have died while serving our country, and to remember those who served proudly and have since passed on.
The war in Iraq took many prisoners. Some of them were the families and citizens caught in the middle of the fray. But others were the men and women who served in the U.S. armed forces and returned home different people, changed from who they were when they first went overseas.
By now you've probably seen at least one video of a soldier or Marine returning home and seeing his dog for the first time. It's one of the things the Internet does that really, genuinely tugs at your heartstrings.
I am not a hunter, I am a shooter and I love the shooting sports. I didn't grow up in a hunting family so that was something that was never burned into my DNA. But I do understand it, and I can surely empathize with anyone that has something they passionately love to do, yet can't do it anymore due to an injury.
