Texarkana’s Greek Alumni Step Show

Greek Alumns look forward to any opportunity to step, strut, stroll! Well this Saturday the Greek alumni of Texarkana and surrounding areas will put on a show and compete for that number one spot at the 2nd Annual Greek Alumni Step Show.

The Sullivan Performing Arts Center, located at 394 Summerhill Rd, will be wall to wall with Greek-lettered paraphernalia; sorority and fraternity calls, chants and strolls. This year's competition will consist of representatives from all of the Divine Nine with the exception of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Inc; Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc; and Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. 

Last year, the Kappa Gamma Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity brought home the gold last year in the fraternity division. The Texarkana Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta brought it all home in the sorority division.

Members of the Divine Nine never outgrow a good ol' Step off! Delta Sigma Theta member, Chasiti Barnett, shared her excitement with Majic.

I haven't stepped in 10 years and I still go it! The kids enjoy watching it and they are able to see that going to college isn't just books and studying. It's fun and social too.

Stepshow Coordinator, Chris Baker, said approximately 500 plus people attended last year's show, and he expects the crowd to double this year, as the show has sold out the Sullivan Performing Arts Center.

Doors will open at 6:30. Showtime is at 7. There will be an after party immediately following at Twin City Sports Bar downtown. Make sure you bring with you the Stepshow card for entry discounts.

As a member of The Divine Nine, it will be hard to sit and observe and not hit that stage with the lovely ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha. But that high pitch SkeeeeeeewWEE you'll hear throughout the building will be me!
