Could Electric Island be Arkansas’ Best Kept Secret?

Of course, the only way to get there is by boat, canoe, or kayak.

Electric Island formerly Goat Island is located near the Andrew Hulsey State Fish Hatchery and features some of the last remaining unaltered shorelines on Lake Hamilton.

Four private homes once occupied the island and some remnants of at least two of those homes remain on the island today.

Arkansas Power and Light originally owned Electric Island for which it got its name, however, it was eventually donated to the Nature Conservancy of Arkansas in 1981. For decades the island was a wildlife management area and the hiking trail was added in 2018. Electric Island's nature trail is now managed by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

Anglers love the island for its largemouth bass, spotted bass, white bass, striped bass,  crappie, bream, and catfish. It's like a treasure trove for anyone who loves to fish! Hikers will love the island for its natural habitat, tall-wooded trees with animals like the white-tailed deer, raccoons, armadillos, eagles, box turtles, and gray squirrels who all call this their home.

However, Electric Island is for hiking only, no camping, or hunting is permitted.

Could Electric Island be one of Arkansas' best-kept secrets? I lived in Hot Springs for almost 12 years and didn't know about Electric Island.
