Texarkana’s Downtown LIVE Returns Sept. 11 With Trolley Rides, Historic Tours, Shopping and Art

Main Street Texarkana is ready for you to come and experience the heart of downtown during Downtown LIVE! from 6 to 9 PM on Friday, September 11.

This month's event will feature several new additions, including trolley rides through the historic downtown, open-house tours of local museums and landmarks, art exhibits, shopping, dining, and more.

One of the highlights of the evening will be the return of the downtown trolley.

Guests can hop aboard and relive Texarkana's streetcar days while visiting some of the city's most historic locations, including the Museum of Regional History, Patterson Place, the Ace of Clubs House, Arkansas Municipal Auditorium, Concho Railhouse, 1923 Banana Club, points along East and West Broad Street, and Main Street Texarkana's new offices in the Landmark Building.

Main Street Texarkana Executive Director Ina McDowell said in a press release,

We're excited to have the trolley back downtown for the evening. Visitors can hop on to take a tour of historic downtown with stops at historic buildings, restaurants, shops, and stop in to see Main Street's new space.

Explore Downtown Attractions

Several downtown destinations will offer special open house tours during the event, including the Arkansas Municipal Auditorium, Patterson Place, and the Museum of Regional History.

You can also stop by Main Street Texarkana's new office to view a temporary exhibit featuring works by local artists.

The historic Ace of Clubs House will offer two guided tours at half price during Downtown LIVE.

Local businesses staying open late for the event include Southern Grace Baby Boutique, That Vintage Vibe, GoodLuxe, and The Dressmaker.

New Community Project Debuts

The evening will also mark the launch of Tiny Doors of Hope, a new initiative from Communities Unlimited designed to connect residents with community resources through interactive art installations featuring QR codes.

DeAnna O'Malley, Area Director of Field Operations at Communities Unlimited, said,

We chose the tiny doors because we were thinking about things that have brought our community together over the years. When we came across funding from Bridging the Gaps that encouraged community education and outreach, it all just came together, and Tiny Doors of Hope was born.
