David "Kidd" Kraddick, host of the popular morning show 'Kidd Kraddick in the Morning', which is carried on our Texarkana station Mix 93.3, suddenly died on Saturday, July 27, 2013 while attending a Kidd's Kids Charity event in New Orleans. We are all in shock.

It is believed to have been a brain aneurism. More details will trickle out in the coming days. I don't really know what to say. I kept hoping it was a hoax or a mistake. While I did not personally know Kidd, I feel like we are all radio brothers and sisters. It is a loss in the radio family. I loved how he gave back through charity, his passion, the kids.

YEA Networks, which syndicates Kidd's show, released a statement today, Saturday, July 27, 2013, confirming the death. “All of us with YEA Networks and the Kidd Kraddick in the Morning crew are heartbroken over the loss of our dear friend and leader. Kidd devoted his life to making people smile every morning, and for 21 years his foundation has been dedicated to bringing joy to thousands of chronically and terminally ill children. Kidd passed away today in New Orleans at a golf tournament organized to raise money for his beloved Kidd’s Kids charity. He died doing what he loved, and his final day was spent selflessly focused on those special children that meant the world to him. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and his colleagues. At the appropriate time, we will release more information about the cause of death.”

Kraddick's show is based out of the Dallas area and is expected to air live next week with tributes to the late host. Part of me thinks that is what I would do but then you have to realize that the very same people doing the tributes will be the same people that are greatly mourning the loss of Kidd, their co-worker, friend and the driver of the fun bus in the mornings. I would be lost.

Kraddick began broadcasting 'Kidd Kraddick in the Morning' in Dallas in 1992. The show was syndicated to more cities around the country beginning in 2001.

Our condolences go out to Kidd's family, especially his daughter, his co-workers: Kellie Rasberry, Big Al Mack, J-Si Chavez and Jenna Owens.
