Yesterday, April 5, was the Texas Rangers 2021 season home opener at Globe Life Field.  The organization invited Texas Governor Greg Abbott to throw the ceremonial first pitch of the season. Governor Abbott wrote a letter declining the invitation citing the MLB's decision to move the organization's All-Star game and draft in Atlanta in response to Georgia's restrictive voting law.Ya'll know how much of my life has revolved around baseball. So this rubbed me all kinda wrong ways. Here's what the governor wrote in his letter to the Major League Baseball Team.

"Major League Baseball adopted what has turned out to be a false narrative about the election law reforms in Georgia, and based on that false narrative, moved the MLB All-Star game from Atlanta," Abbott wrote in the letter.
"It is shameful that America's pastime is not only being influenced by partisan political politics, but also perpetuating false political narratives. This decision does not diminish the deep respect I have for the Texas Rangers baseball organization, which is outstanding from top to bottom."

So let me catch you up...... Basically, the MLB moved it's all-star game OUT of Georgia when it became evident that Georgia's restrictive voting law is just another way to flex it's muscle and exercise voter's suppression.... something we, as a people, A MINORITY PEOPLE, have dealt with for decades on various levels from outlandish testing, to blatant discrimination that denied generations the right to vote. At the end of the day, regardless of how you view it, Georgia's restrictive voting law bands the use of ballot drop boxes, restricts citizens from voting absentee if they do not have a government-issued ID, cuts down on early voting, and makes it a crime to provide food or water to people standing in lines at the poles. So, you mean to tell me you can't provide WATER for people standing in line to vote?? If that's not voters suppression at it's finest!  Interestingly enough, this all came about with Joe Biden’s presidential win and democrats winning two very critical seats in the U.S. Senate. And of course, I can't leave out the false narrative poison of a "stolen election" that 45 injected into the nation dividing and wreaking havoc throughout.

My question is this.... What is the difference between declining the offer to throw the first pitch at an MLB game (that you claim to love so) and kneeling at an NFL or NBA game?? Everybody was so pressed about the knees that were taken in the name of justice and equality.

At the and of the day...... The Rangers had a sellout crowd! GO RANGERS! GO MLB! I'm very proud of the organization. When baseball takes a stand, you know it's pretty deep.
