Did you know that coffee is 98% water? Or that it contains a ton of compounds that would be completely repulsive in higher doses?

I mean I am your biggest, proudest, loudest coffee supporter/Starbucks financial backer out there, so you would think I would know.

I average three cups a day, one of those usually being decaf in the evening. The point is, I look at my coffee cup and just think delicious coffee, creamer and probably too much sugar (don't tell mom and dad).

There are actually five different, and extremely hard to pronounce, compounds in coffee that would be disgusting in higher doses.

One of those compounds is 2-ethylphenol. Yeah, don't ask me to say that aloud. It actually gives off a tar-like medicinal odor and is a natural cockroach pheromone. GROSS.

Another compound in coffee is 3,5 dicaffeoylquinic acid (how do people come up with these names?)...which protects your brain from free radicals. AKA, coffee is an antioxidant! That's a good thing in case you didn't know.

You can check out the video below for the full list of ingredients and benefits that your average cup of Joe will hold.

In the mean time, I'll just stick with my extremely light and sweet coffee that probably isn't anywhere close to good for me. You can't stop me. I'm a french vanilla coffee creamer kind of girl. And if you like hazelnut creamer then I don't like you.

My philosophy on coffee? There is no such thing as coffee that is too strong, only people who are too weak to handle it. Yeah...I do have that motivational coffee quote hanging in my bathroom. Judge me, I dare you.
