Thursday’s Pearls Of Wisdom
We, as a community, are still processing the traumatic death (murder) of Ahmaud Arbery and just weeks later, we're trying to process even more trauma after the cold blooded murder of George Floyd this week.
Bernice King…. The youngest child of Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King posted a picture of the Minneapolis police officer with his knee in George Floyd’s neck as he strangled him to death and beside it a second picture of Collin Kaepernick kneeling and she said the following….
If you’re unbothered or mildly bothered by the 1st knee, but outraged by the 2nd, then, in my father’s words, you’re “more devoted to order than to justice.” And more passionate about an anthem that supposedly symbolizes freedom than you are about a Black man’s freedom to live.
See…. to all my black men listening out there your life meant very little from the beginning of us being brought over here into Western civilization. If you didn’t know… you were only counted as ⅗ of a person until the 13th amendment. And even after that we spent years hurdling Jim Crow and other obstacles just to be able to vote.
Here’s the thing I learned just recently…. Your giant is your bridge to better. Nobody would have ever known David had there NOT been a Goliath. Stop fighting each other and lets tackle this giant. That’s how we overcome as a people… That’s how we change history.
